The NRW State Police Orchestra (LPO NRW) is a representative orchestra of the NRW state government and part of the public relations work of the NRW police. It consists of 45 trained professional musicians and represents the NRW police in a special way.

The LPO NRW is involved in supporting the public relations, road safety and prevention work of the NRW police authorities, participating in promotional events for the police profession, workshops and concerts with target groups of police work (e.g. children, young people, senior citizens).

As a member of the LPO NRW, you will work on the set repertoire by studying sheet music, take part in performances of the symphonic wind orchestra, the big band and the ensembles and lead ensembles and rehearsals on the instructions of the conductor and/or the LPO NRW office management.

What makes you stand out

Not all orchestras are the same: in addition to the large symphonic ensemble, the LPO NRW brings together several musically specialized ensembles. They cater to every taste, from classical to modern. The basic requirement is a degree from a music academy for a specific instrument. In addition, it is desirable that you have at least one year's experience in music education for the preparation / implementation of workshops (mainly with young people), experience in using notation software and mastery of a second / secondary instrument. You should also be able to cooperate, be physically resilient, independent and a team player.

What you can expect with us

Sports trainers have a wide range of uses in the NRW police force. As instructors specializing in sport, they train trainee inspectors and prepare them for their exams and future tasks. As a sports and health management officer, on the other hand, you will be responsible for planning and organizing service and preventive sports activities for the authority, supervising the police sports trainers involved in service sports, providing them with further training and coordinating health management in the authority.

What makes you stand out

To work as a sports trainer for the NRW police, you will need to have successfully completed a degree in sports science, health management or sports management/economics. It is also possible to start with a completed apprenticeship, e.g. as a sports specialist, sports and fitness merchant, gymnastics teacher or a comparable commercial apprenticeship. If you are also able to communicate, cooperate, organize and plan, have good specialist knowledge and are physically fit, then you have good chances with us.

Driving safety trainers work for the NRW police as instructors in advanced training with a focus on driving and safety training. They are responsible for the qualification of instructors in the field of driving and safety training in basic and advanced training, prepare, follow up and conduct events in the field of driving and safety training and develop advanced training concepts.

What makes you stand out

There are many ways to become a driving safety trainer with the NRW police. Driving instructors with a driving and safety instructor qualification, regular soldiers with a driving and safety instructor qualification and people who have completed vocational training in a technical occupation in the motor vehicle trade and are qualified as a driving safety instructor can apply. Possession of driving license classes B, BE, C, CE, D, DE is also required.

The NRW police not only train their own guard dogs, the four-legged friends are usually even bred in-house. Puppies romp around the premises of the "Central Training Center for Service Dogs" in Schloß Holte-Stukenbrock - all potential police dogs. Animal keepers ensure that the service dogs and puppies are housed and cared for in a species-appropriate manner in accordance with the latest findings. They also provide support in observing behavior and drawing up future prognoses for the individual support of young dogs with the aim of successfully preparing them for suitability tests. The care, cleaning and maintenance of the state-owned kennel facility is also part of the job portfolio.

What you can expect with us

Under the direction of a master of equine management and the management of the NRW horse unit, which is based at Bochum police headquarters, you will be responsible for the keeping, care and maintenance of at least 32 service horses and for ensuring the operational processes of the approximately four-hectare facility.

What makes you stand out

The NRW police force employs specialists who have completed training as horse managers - for example in the field of horse husbandry and service. Pferdewirtinnen and Pferdewirt have sound riding training and practical riding experience. As a result, they are confident in handling horses by hand and are willing to work flexibly outside normal working hours, especially at weekends. This also includes the willingness to travel on assignments lasting several days, especially to other federal states.

Cooks work in a dynamic team in our canteens and cafeterias and take care of communal catering and the production of meals and menu sequences. But the right use of goods, costing, work planning and appealing food design and serving are also on the agenda.

In most cases, successfully completing training as a chef is a prerequisite for the NRW police. At some locations, we also train chefs ourselves in cooperation with the Chamber of Industry and Commerce. The prerequisite here is a successful graduation from school.
