Police vocational diploma

As the course was established for the first time in August 2022, our range of vocational college locations is also constantly growing.

When applying, it is important that interested pupils can easily reach their preferred vocational colleges by public transport. If necessary, carpools are formed among the applicants in the class group at the beginning of the school year.

The first step in the application process is the online application to the NRW police. This must be submitted by 30.11. of the year at the latest. After submitting the online application, applicants have 14 days to upload all the necessary documents.

An individual application account is created for the online application, which also includes an integrated news portal. It is essential that applicants keep an eye on this regularly.

School registration for the FOS Polizei is only required after the selection process has been completed and after receipt of the conditional confirmation of employment from the NRW police. Applicants will be informed of the vocational college at which they will be offered a place with the confirmation of employment. Registration at this vocational college is then mandatory and must be done independently by the applicant. We will inform you again at the appropriate time of the need to register at the vocational college. It is advisable for applicants to look for an alternative at the same time in case the FOS Polizei does not work out! School attendance is compulsory in NRW until the age of majority!

In the first year of the FOS Polizei, students can expect a mix of theory and practice. In total, they have school twice a week and three days of practical training.

In the second year of the FOS Polizei, they only have lessons at the vocational colleges.
There are various profile subjects such as law, political science and administrative management. The examination subjects will be law, math, German and English.

Pupils complete their work placement at the relevant recruitment and training authority or a cooperation authority. We pay particular attention to ensuring that the placement is as close to home as possible.

We want to give applicants an overall view of the police and offer a wide range of internships. In addition to an internship in the administration, in the security service and at the public order office, other exciting insights await the applicants, such as at a drug counseling center. As part of the internship units, a total of four practical reports must be completed, which are graded by a teacher at the vocational college.
