What you can expect with us

As a janitor at the NRW police force, you will ensure that everything is in order inside and outside the buildings. You will look after pathways, green areas, machinery and equipment and carry out minor repairs independently.

You will also be responsible for checking the building's technical facilities, e.g. the lighting. You will supervise external service providers and help wherever a strong hand is needed. There is also office work. However, police work does not always follow traditional office hours. Therefore, depending on which authority you work for, you may also be on call or work at the weekend. 

What makes you stand out

• We expect you to have successfully completed training in a skilled trade, e.g. as an HVAC plant mechanic, electronics technician, carpenter, joiner, gas and water fitter or gas and water installer.
• Fitness is a must, as this job involves physical work (e.g. kneeling, bending, lifting, carrying).
• You should also have technical understanding.
• A class B driving license is also essential.
• We would be pleased if you already have experience and knowledge of building services and are familiar with the current technical regulations, standards and guidelines. You should be familiar with fire protection and safety technology.

What you can expect with us

Facility management is just as diverse as the police force itself. Depending on which police authority you would like to work for, the recruitment requirements and areas of responsibility vary greatly. Sometimes we are looking for people with technical or commercial training, but sometimes we also expect a degree (civil engineering, real estate management, facility management). Technical understanding and a hands-on approach are always an advantage.

You will primarily be responsible for planning and coordinating tasks relating to the properties of the NRW Police. For example, you will commission specialist companies to carry out repairs or renovation work. You will also have to keep an eye on the budget.

What you can expect with us

Have you trained in a metalworking profession and are looking for a new challenge? Then the NRW police force is the right place for you, because many different tasks await you in our weapons workshops. This is where weapons and equipment are repaired, technical inspections are carried out and, of course, weapons are checked on the shooting range to ensure that they function correctly. The breathing masks are also checked and serviced in the weapons workshops. You may be on site during major incidents and support the police officers in the field with your specialist knowledge. 

What makes you stand out

• As a weapons mechanic with the NRW police, you must have successfully completed vocational training in a recognized metalworking trade, e.g. as a gunsmith, precision mechanic, metalworker specializing in mechanical engineering or toolmaker.
• As you will not only be working in the workshop, but also visiting other authorities, you will need a valid class B driving license.
• You must also have lived in Germany or an EU member state for at least five years - this is the requirement for the mandatory security check (SÜ 1).
• Professional experience and experience with weapons are just as desirable as conscientiousness and a precise way of working, a high sense of responsibility and the ability to work in a team. 

What we offer you

To ensure that you get off to a good start in your new job, we will send you on a three-month weapons mechanics course at the Federal Police Academy in Lübeck. We will of course bear the costs.
