As an editor, you can expect a very diverse range of tasks at the NRW police. Your tasks will include preparing and holding press conferences. You will prepare press releases, answer media inquiries, give statements and interviews, take care of press work accompanying operations and evaluate issues with regard to their media relevance.

In addition to press work, editors at the NRW police also deal with public relations. They draft greetings, speeches and presentations for the head of the authorities, develop content and cross-media communication concepts, manage social media channels, organize events and develop content for the Internet, intranet and print media of the NRW police.

What makes you stand out

You have completed training as a journalist with professional experience in journalism (e.g. newspaper, radio, etc.) or a degree in public relations/communication management, media studies, communication sciences, journalism or similar. Communication skills, a confident command of written and spoken German, stress tolerance, the ability to deal with conflict, the ability to innovate and flexibility are also skills that should characterize you. You should also be willing to undergo further training, work flexible hours and work at weekends.

What you can expect with us

As a press spokesperson for the NRW police, you will prepare press releases and press reports and issue statements on current events. You will be the contact person for representatives of the press on site in acute police situations.

All 47 district police authorities and the three higher state authorities (LAFP NRW, LKA NRW and LZPD NRW) have their own social media channels on various platforms. There is also the state-wide NRW police career channel. All of these channels must be supplied with content. Social media employees in the police authorities are responsible for this. What you can expect with us

Photographers at the NRW Police are responsible for the photographic documentation of official appointments and events, portrait photography and corporate photography.

Another area of work for photographers is in the Crime Directorate with a focus on forensics and securing evidence. This involves, among other things, taking crime scene photos outdoors and indoors during the day and at night, specialist photographic securing of crime scene evidence and taking close-up and macro crime scene photos with special technical aids.

What makes you stand out

A completed vocational training as a photographer or a degree in photography is required. Good knowledge of image editing software (Adobe Photoshop, etc.) is also desirable.

Monitoring staff at the NRW police are responsible for media monitoring and the procurement of real-time information to support a wide range of operational situations. To this end, they research freely accessible sources on the Internet for information relevant to operations.

As a monitoring employee, you will also monitor the police's own accounts and implement communication in social media in consultation with the control center.
